Over 50? Try Intermittent Fasting

Last week I did a 7-day Fresh Start Intermittent Fasting plan.

It was a simple 16:8 format.

I fasted for 16 hours.

I ate all my food and supplements within an 8-hour window.

What my day looked like for 7 days:

6pm - Ate my last meal of the day, followed by a powerful probiotic, and then enjoyed a hot herbal tea around 8pm

9.30pm - Bed

6am - Woke and started the day with a Matcha Tea & MCT oil. Drank water and a second Matcha Tea until I broke my fast at 10am

10am - Breakfast with a special 24g protein shake, then ate my regular meals until 6pm

I had no expectations and what happened to my body shocked me. I had been reading about how intermittent fasting can help with fat burning and also healing. But what happened to me was a real surprise.

What happened in the 7 days:

Three days into the 7-day Fresh Start Plan, I noticed my belly was less bloated and flatter in the mornings.

By Day 7 I had lost around 2kgs, and 2 cms off my waist. Woohoo!! And the weight has stayed away.

I felt incredibly focussed and mentally sharp throughout the day, especially in the mornings.

My energy levels increased, I didn’t need a pick-me-up in the afternoons, and I could keep going all day.

I found I didn’t need the coffee in the mornings to wake me up. The Match Tea was the perfect solution for the early mornings.

Having read about the power of healing with intermittent fasting, I took this with a grain of salt.

BUT...having struggled with knee pain for over 18 months, I noticed that by Day 3 my knee pain completely disappeared. I was shocked!

I played tennis, ran around, went to the gym, started to move really freely. And to this day, I am pain free.

I don’t believe in coincidences. This release of pain was all due to the 7-day Fresh Start Plan!

Throughout the 7-day Fresh Start Plan, I became very mindful of my eating patterns. I realised that I had been eating out of boredom and habit.

Rather than eating at certain times of the day, eg. lunch at 12midday, I am now eating when I am truly hungry.

This Plan has given me a really good kickstart to create new habits. Instead of mindless eating, eg in front of the TV, I have become acutely aware of how my body feels and what it needs.
