Home Made Almond Butter
Making almond butter at home is so easy if you have a high speed blender or food processor.
I like to toast my almonds first, then let them cool which makes them crunchy and gives them a really nice flavour.
Ingredients:
400g whole almonds (or make your own mix)
3-5 whole macadamias (optional)
Method:
Toast your almonds in the oven for approx. 10 minutes at a low temperature 150 degrees. Watch them carefully so that they don’t burn. Leave to cool.
Place the toasted almonds into your food processor and blend at high speed for about 30 seconds to break them up.
Add the macadamias (if you have them) and proceed at a lower speed for a good 3-4 minutes, scraping down the bowl in between. The macadamias add that bit of natural oil which will make the almond butter more goey.
Once processed, pour into a glass jar.
To serve, add to your morning smoothie, or eat it straight from the jar!
