Can Orange Juice cause weight gain?

I love the taste of an orange. It's sweet, it's juicy, and very delicious. I feel satisfied when I've eaten an orange.

But what happens when you drink orange juice? Do you get the same level of satisfaction? And what are you actually getting when you drink a cup of orange juice?

Let's look at a few FACTS:
Generally speaking, it takes about 3 oranges to make 1 cup of juice.

An average orange contains approx. 9g of sugar.

Therefore 1 cup of orange juice contains roughly 27g of sugar, which will spike your blood sugar, and in turn potentially cause weight gain.

Compare this to 1 cup of Coca Cola which contains a mere 23g, so your orange juice contains MORE sugar than a nasty soft drink!!! WHOA!!!!

Many store bought juices contain added ingredients and preservatives so that the juice tastes the same every time you buy it. They want you to keep coming back for more.

What about FIBRE?

Well your orange juice contains next to no fibre, whereas a whole orange contains about 3 grams of fibre. And eating fibre in my experience is one of the most important things we can do for good health. (PS We want to aim for 30 g of fibre every day).

Conclusion

Ditch the juice and eat the whole orange. You'll get the goodness of fibre, the sugar in the fruit won't spike your blood sugar, and you'll feel satisfied after eating a whole orange.

It's a no-brainer!!
